ADA HITCH REDESIGN

ADA HITCH REDESIGN

ADA Hitch Redesign

I completed this project during my second year in design school as part of a course titled Inclusive Design. The objective was to redesign the third floor of the Hitch Building—home to the O’More Interior Design program—encompassing approximately 9,888 square feet. The focus was to transform the space into a fully inclusive learning environment that meets ADA, Universal Design, and Inclusive Design standards. This included implementing ADA-compliant furniture, custom millwork, storage solutions, visual and electronic aids, finishes, lighting, and wayfinding systems. The design intent was to rethink the existing layout to support both students and faculty by creating a dynamic, functional, and welcoming atmosphere. The overall aesthetic emphasizes clean, organic forms and adaptable spaces that cater to individual needs, ensuring accessibility and comfort for all users.

Design Statement

The intent of this design is to re think the third floor of Hitch to embody an all inclusive learning environment. The space will exhibit dynamic and clean designs that can be customizable for specific individual usages. All furniture, and material selection will meet ADA specifications, while also emphasizing an organic design that feels and functions to be fully inclusive.
